Celebrating Anna Pearl

My baby girl turned 10 on Saturday.  She has officially entered the "tweens", though she unofficially arrived here quite some time ago.  She is surely growing up and changing, yet she remains so constant in some ways.

Some things to share about Anna Pearl:

1. She is fiercely loyal and will stand by you through thick and thin
2. She is moody and grumpy and loving and tender.  When she was young i picked this song as her theme song.  it describes her completely!
3. She loves sports and is just as happy watching her brother and sister, as she is playing one herself... especially soccer!
4. She is a tomboy and spends most of her recesses playing with the boys, but she has a ton of friends and she values these relatioships
5. She is an overachiever who likes to please... and she HATES to lose or disappoint!
6. She snores like crazy, but cuddles like no other
7. She loves to do housework and organize things, yet her closet is chaotic
8. She loves to take care of others yet doesn't like to be alone
9. She is now spending almost all of her free time on her bike, with a gang of friends (mostly boys), roaming around the village... but she calls home about every 15 minutes... just to say hi!
10. She has discovered makeup and would like it if i would let her wear it outside of the house
11. She likes clothes and fashion but usually prefers comfy shorts, tshirts and running shoes
12. her favourite colour is purple
13. her favourite food is nany jens chicken fettucini
14. she does not care for fruits or vegetables but will indulge in any kind of chocolate bar... especially mars bars
15. she loves school and homework
16. she is currently a member of the foxboro girls relay team and is trying out for the belleville comets rep u10 soccer team
17. she is daddy's girl

anna's birthday celebrations began on friday afternoon, when matt and i picked her and a few friends up from school and headed to the boiler room rock climbing gym in kinston.  i had pizza ready for them to eat for the ride up so we were good to go for our rock climbing adventure.

 the girls were the first ones to reach the top of the wall... they totally rocked!

 

and the boys especially loved the climbing cave... they were like little monkeys...

 

after 3 hours of climbing, the kids were ready for some dairy queen; anna's request in lieu of birthday cake...

 
 

anna had invited shelyn for a sleep over and as usual they stayed up very late and got up very early.  they were out the door by 8am for a walk on saturday morning.  anna spent the rest of the day hanging out at home and then playing a soccer game.  but she was a very tired girl.

aunt mimi, cousin gigi and nan and dede came over for hotdogs and birthday cake. gigi brought anna pearl a beautiful bouquet of flowers... and she was so excited to give them to her.

anna pearl received lots of great gifts from friends and family... gift cards, perfume, chocolates, a picture and frame and clothes.   and matt and i were so excited to finally make one of her biggest wishes come true... she is going to see the la galaxy and the toronto fc play in toronto on wednesday night.  yup, me and my girl will be heading to the city to watch some david beckham, er i mean soccer.  i am not sure who is more excited... anna or me?!

Anna she's a little lady now and she is so pretty, climbing is a hard sport for a girl, I appreciate that, not anyone can do that.
