Nowadays, many of us “outsource” basic tasks. For the most part, food is instant, ready-made, and processed with unhealthy additives. Pizza can be taken out of the freezer and popped into the oven, tailors sew on buttons. People spend tonnes of money on cleaning products, that are not only costly, but so not healthy for people or the environment. But as this book can attest life can be much simpler, sweeter, and richer–and a lot more fun, too!
How to Sew a Button collects the treasured wisdom of our grandmothers as well as modern-day experts–and shares more than one hundred step-by-step essential tips for cooking, cleaning, gardening, and entertaining, including how to
• grow your own vegetables (and stash your bounty for the winter)
• sweeten your day by making your own jam
• use baking soda and vinegar to clean your house without toxic chemicals
• feel beautiful by perfecting your posture
• roll your own piecrust and find a slice of heaven
i think i have a pretty good head start on a few of these tips...
- our garden was successful and so much fun last year... i look forward to expanding it this summer and learning how to store more food
- i haven't bought a cleaning product for nearly two years now... i use baking powder, vinegar, water and norwex products to tackle my house cleaning
- i love making homemade jam and am hoping to expand into pickles this year too
- we don't buy lunch snacks/cookies... we make them
i can't wait 'til this book comes in... so much to learn!
